Exposure is my best friend. I realized early on, if I want folks to know about the game, I am gonna have to make sure I am seen; but how? The gaming community has lots of online forums, meet-ups and Facebook groups, but nothing beats a gaming conference. As an exhibitor, you have the opportunity to introduce your game to so many different audiences. I participated in a couple of small gaming expos earlier this year. They were great. People were able to play and the feedback was positive. The only downside was the people were interested, but I didn’t have the product for them to purchase. Well, that all changed this past weekend at Play NYC!
I asked my manufacturer to send some games ahead of the large shipment so I would have something to sell. My goal was to sell 20 games each day. I never thought I would have sold the entire shipment (46) of games on the first day!!! INSANITY!
The event took place at the concert venue Terminal 5. It was absolutely amazing to see so many independent game developers and gamers in the same space. We started at 10am and my table was busy until they kicked us out! I figured some people would stop by the table, but I had no idea it was going to be as popular as it was. Thank goodness my cousin Stephanie and friends, April and Brandy, agreed to help me. I couldn’t have done it without them.
I had so much fun meeting new people and introducing them to the game. Seeing them smile and listening she sound of their laughter warmed my heart. This was definitely the best weekend ever.
